Application Process

  • Read the “Application Guidelines”. Scroll down to see Process, Guidelines, and to apply.
  • Applicants will be chosen by the questions answered on the application including factors such as disability, financial need, and financial ability to insure and maintain the vehicle.
  • To qualify for our program, families must be able to afford a $400/month van payment plus the cost of insurance, maintenance, and upkeep. This may seem expensive, but this is a HEAVILY discounted rate with 0% interest. This is around $400-500 per month savings from what it would cost with traditional financing with around a 7% interest rate. The vans are retailed for around $75,000 so with our grant (typically around 50%) and no interest, our recipients can afford the vans at a low cost loan of roughly $400/month. This is a reminder that this program is designed for families that are looking for a van, but don’t qualify for traditional financing.
  • Applicants will have several application steps throughout the process with MV4K. All processes will be completed using a web browser. Applicants must have access to an electronic device with internet & web browser capabilities. Applicants may use their cellphones or tablets, however using desktop or laptop computer will make the process easier.
  • These steps include providing a Summary of FCRA, Background Check Authorization Form, and a Financial Information Form from anyone that is over the age of 18 years old living in the household.
  • Upon completion of the application process Applicants will be notified within approximately 120 days if they have been chosen to receive an award from MV4K.
  • Recipients will sign and agree to Mobility Vans for Kids loan terms and agreements. Loan terms and agreements will vary based on the vehicle award and financial need.
  • Upon award, MV4K will schedule an appointment with MobilityWorks. The award recipient will then talk to a specialist (either in person or over the phone) that will help your family through the closing process.
  • All required documentation, including required proof of insurance must be provided to MV4K prior to closing day. MobilityWorks and MV4K will coordinate closing day with the recipient (this timeframe will differ for each recipient and is subject to deadlines established between MobilityWorks and MV4K).
  • MV4K wants to help as many families as possible. At the end of the loan term, the child’s mobility and financial needs will be reassessed. The loan agreement will then either be renewed, modified, or terminated depending on said reassessment. During the loan term no adjustments to loan agreements will be made without notice or communication with recipients.
  • Mobility Vans for Kids (MV4K) awards are not guaranteed and are subject to availability. Due to the number of applications received, MV4K is unable to accommodate every request. We respectfully ask that you only submit an application if you have thoroughly reviewed the application rules, meet the criteria for submission, and provide a complete application. Please refer to our FAQ section for additional information. Any and all awards are subject to termination at any time for any reason deemed necessary by Mobility Vans for Kids. Applicants who are denied an award are welcome to reapply no sooner than one year from receipt of the previous denial letter.
  • Due to a shortage of mini-vans in the new and used vehicle markets, application process and award timelines are currently delayed. Please expect at least up to 120 days for the application process and award (if selected) time. We appreciate your patience, flexibility & support.

Application Guidelines

  • MUST BE FLORIDA RESIDENT. At this time, we only award vans in the state of Florida.
  • The child recipient must be at least 5 years of age and weigh more than 50lbs at the time of initial application.
  • The child recipient must be under the age of 21 years old at the time of initial application.
  • MV4K’s funds are limited. Applicants must demonstrate they have exhausted all state, federal, and other funding options to purchase a mobility assistance vehicle or other mobility equipment.
  • Applicants must be able to afford at minimum, a $400/month van payment, PLUS insurance (typically around $200-500/month), maintenance, gas, and upkeep. Applicants must demonstrate they can afford around $600-800/month in total van expenses.
  • This program is designed to help families that can afford a heavily discounted, interest free loan for a van that retails for around $75,000. If you cannot afford a van payment of at least $400/month, please do not apply.
  • How we calculate our loans…MV4K buys a new converted van from MobilityWorks at the full retail price of around $75,000. We then discount the van price with roughly a 50% grant to the family being awarded the van. This makes the vans new purchase price around $35,000. We then calculate the interest free loan term (typically around 7-10 years) depending on the finances of the family that will be receiving the van.

This may include but is not limited to; contact information (name/address/phone/email), income verification, employment status (eligibility), citizenship status, marital status, veteran status, proof of insurance, proof of valid U.S. driver’s license, written statement, physician certification form (in accordance with HIPPA), and any other supporting documentation required. Partial, incomplete, or fraudulent applications will not be accepted.
  • Awards are one van award per child. All adults 18 years or older living in the household will be required to provide the requested items listed above.
  • Applicants must hold and be able to show proof of a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
  • At closing, applicants are required to have an up to date insurance policy. Must be able to show proof of insurance.

  • Applicants have the right to provide, or not provide consent to the use or depiction of names, dates, media (photo/video), written statements or testimonials by Mobility Vans for Kids.
  • Applicants must adhere to all guidelines as stated above in order to be qualified for an award from Mobility Vans for Kids.
  • Applicants must not apply or receive a mobility assistance vehicle from another organization during our application process. Should something change during the application process, applicants must disclose to MV4K immediately.
